'ZEN', GREY WITH BLACK/GREY IKAT JAMDANI SQUARES
Inspired by the clean aesthetic of Japanese culture, this scarf employ several handloom techniques. First we start with a sheer base of fine silk and cotton. The cotton is spun in extremely yarns to allow some transparency. The yarn used to make the square motifs has been dyed using traditional ikat methods, where the yarn is randomly dyed in places white and black before it is woven. This black and white thread is then woven into the scarf as the weavers is sitting on the loom - thread by thread. This ancient technique is known as 'jamdani'.
